Butterfly Conservation

In 2019 I volunteered with the Cornwall Butterfly Conservation branch. This was a fantastic opportunity to meet and photograph the people behind the ‘All the Moors’ project. This project is helping to re-establish healthy habitat for the very rare Marsh Fritillary and other Fritillary species.

This photo series documents a hands on conservation event, scrub bashing. The volunteers aim to clear suitable butterfly habitat of any large plants such as bramble or gorse. This allows the butterflies food plant to spread and grow supporting a much larger population.
